Situation
Minnesota Women Lawyers (MWL) serves over 1,200 member attorneys, judges, law students and legal employers by playing a strong and active role in Minnesota's legal community. Through its many programs and initiatives, MWL works to support the professional and leadership development of women lawyers, to advocate on behalf of women lawyers within the legal profession, and to support social action initiatives to end discrimination in the justice system and promote equality of women in society.
MWL had two specific needs:
- To refresh their web presence
- To move towards a more robust set of tools for managing their membership, events and programs
Strategy
We partnered with MWL to develop a phased approach to solve their business needs. Phase One was meant to deal with the web site. Phase two was meant to deal with the current MWL database
Solution
Phase One:
- Identify new and existing content
- Engage a new hosting provider
- Rework the look and feel of the web site to suit the new and existing content
- Implement a set of forms for membership renewals and event registrations
- Train MWL staff to maintain their corporate web presence without external vendor
Phase Two:
- Analyze the current MWL database
- Identify and remove duplicate data
- Restructure the existing data
- Build a set of forms to manage the membership process, event tracking as well as program management
- Train MWL staff on how to work with the database as well as provide ongoing assistance
Results
Through these efforts MWL was able to implement a set of newer, more efficient and more reliable technologies while simultaneously becoming less dependent on outside resources.
